The Continental electronic components plant in Timisoara is investing 12 million Euro in expanding its working facilities. The factory will increase its area by more than 7000 m2. The works will be ready before the end of this year. The cornerstone of the new facility has been laid on May 25, 2016, within an internal ceremony where the factory director, Francisco Xavier Pujol, explained why it was necessary: “Our goal is complete the expansion works before the end of this year, in order to meet the orders of our customers. This investment will result in more than 7000 m2 of office and storage space, as well as social areas (locker rooms, kitchens and rest rooms)”.
At the end of the year, the Continental electronic components plant in Timi[oara will have more than 21000 m2. "We want to add more than 1000 R&D employees in Romania this year. The investment is an important step to achieve this growth for both the location and for Continental. We work together and it’s only natural to grow together“, explained Christian von Albrichsfeld, General Manager of Continental Romania.

In 1999-2015, Continental invested 1.13 billion Euro in its Romanian activities. All the 5 Continental divisions have a Romanian branch. Continental owns seven production facilities and for R&D centres in Timisoara,Sibiu, Carei, Nadab, Brasov and Iasi. Continental is a partner of a Slatina joint-venture and has a tyre distribution centre in Bucharest. At the end of 2015, Continental had approximately 16,500 staff and will more than 1000 new members to its Romanian team in 2016.
